Furniture Care & Maintenance Guide
Thank you for choosing our furniture to be part of your home. Each piece is thoughtfully crafted to deliver beautiful style, longlasting durability, and everyday comfort. To help your investment age gracefully for generations, please follow these professional care and maintenance recommendations.
Solid Wood Furniture Care
Applies to: Dining Tables, Bar Tables, TV Consoles, Wooden Chairs, Accent Tables, and Wood Components
Natural wood is a living, breathing material. It responds to light, temperature, humidity, and everyday use. Proper care preserves its finish, stability, and natural beauty.
- Routine Dusting — Dust weekly using a clean, lintfree cotton or microfiber cloth. Lightly dampen if needed and always wipe with the grain. Immediately dry with a second soft cloth to prevent moisture absorption.
- Avoid Silicone & Heavy Wax — Skip aerosol sprays, allpurpose cleaners, silicone polishes, and heavy waxes. These products leave residues that attract dust, cloud the finish, and complicate future refinishing.
- Climate Stability — Keep wood away from heating vents, fireplaces, radiators, and direct AC airflow. Sudden humidity or temperature changes can cause warping, cracking, or joint separation.
- Sunlight Protection — Prolonged direct sunlight can fade finishes and create uneven color changes. Use curtains, blinds, or UVfiltering window film when possible.
- Surface Protection — Always use coasters, trivets, placemats, and felt pads under beverages, hot dishes, décor, and lamps. Avoid writing directly on wood surfaces; use a protective pad to prevent indentations.
- Uniform Aging — For tables with extension leaves, keep leaves installed for the first few months so all surfaces age and tone evenly.
- Cleaning Spills — Wipe spills immediately using a soft, dry cloth. Liquids left sitting on wood can cause staining, swelling, or finish damage.
- Annual Deep Care — Once or twice a year, use a highquality, nonsilicone wood conditioner recommended for your finish type to nourish the wood and maintain sheen.
Upholstered Seating Care
Applies to: Upholstered Dining Chairs, Fabric Barstools, Ottomans, Accent Chairs
Regular care keeps fabric fresh, comfortable, and resistant to premature wear.
- Weekly Vacuuming — Dust, grit, and pet dander act like abrasives on fabric fibers. Vacuum weekly using a soft upholstery brush to remove debris from seams and crevices.
- Immediate Spill Response — Blot spills right away with a clean, dry, white cloth. Never rub or scrub; this pushes liquid deeper and distorts the fabric texture.
- FabricSafe Cleaners — Only use cleaning products recommended for your fabric type. When in doubt, test any cleaner on a hidden area first.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight — Fabrics can fade or weaken when exposed to strong sunlight over time. Position seating away from windows or use window coverings during peak daylight.
- Rotate Usage — If possible, rotate cushions or seating positions periodically to promote even wear and maintain longterm comfort.
- Pet Considerations — Pet claws, oils, and hair can shorten fabric life. Use washable chair covers or throws in hightraffic pet households.
General Home Environment Tips
These simple habits help extend the life of all furniture types:
- Maintain indoor humidity between 35%–55% to protect wood, fabric, and leather.
- Lift furniture when moving it — never drag pieces across flooring.
- Use felt pads under legs to prevent scratches on hardwood or tile.
- Keep household chemicals, nail polish remover, alcohol, and perfumes away from all finishes.
